Advisors

All first-year Biology students, regardless of whether they are entering freshman or transfer students, initially meet with a first-year Biology advisor.  The reason for this is two-fold:  (1) later-stage students, particularly during the application process for post-undergraduate employment and/or professional schools, involve more attention and time from a Faculty Advisor who is dedicated to a specific advising focus (e.g., Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Physician Assistant; (2)  early-stage students sometimes encounter challenges with basic coursework and change their minds about pursuing a Biology Degree, so helping them through this early process is the focus of first-year Biology advisors.  First-year Biology students are encouraged to attend any information sessions which may be held at different times of the year and may be presented by different advisors in the department.
