Financial Concerns/Irregularities
All of us share responsibility for ensuring that the university conducts its financial transactions in ways that are ethical, honest, and reflect sound fiduciary practices. Western Oregon University (WOU) takes this obligation seriously, our policy encourages employees to report any suspected financial misconduct to the appropriate university office, the Institutional Designated Administrator, Darin Silbernagel, Director of Business Services, or through the Financial Concerns hotline.

In addition, the WOU has contracted with EthicsPoint, an independent, third-party vendor, to provide a confidential and anonymous telephone and Internet system for reporting your financial concerns. The VP for Finance and Administration, Director of Business Services and WOU legal Counsel administer the hotline system and will follow up on reports.

Whistleblower Protection
Employees who identify themselves and make a good faith report of a known or suspected financial irregularity are protected from retaliation, in accordance with the Oregon State Whistleblowers Protection Law (ORS 659A). For employees that report, Western Oregon University will take steps to maintain confidentiality for employees reporting suspected financial irregularities to the extent possible under the law. Concerns may also be reported to the Secretary of State Audits Division by visiting hhtp://fraud.oregon.gov or by calling 1-800-336-8218.
