National Council for State Reciprocity Agreements
Western Oregon University has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. This means our distance education offerings, such as our online and hybrid programs and courses, align with national standards and can be taken by students living outside of Oregon.
The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is an initiative intended to provide consumer protection for students interested in studying online at an out-of-state provider. Western Oregon University voluntarily participates in SARA as part of its commitment to support student success by providing access to high-quality, affordable higher education. By participating in SARA, we make sure you have the accurate, transparent information you need to feel confident that WOU is the right choice for you.
This page is a resource to help you understand the states in which Western Oregon University is authorized to offer distance education, how our licensure programs align with state standards and requirements, information on out-of-state internships, and how we resolve student complaints.
