Canvas Support for Instructors

Canvas offers support to all students, faculty, and staff! This support is available 24/7 and 365 days of a year, making it the best way to access prompt support should you encounter any challenges using Canvas.

Support is available by phone, live, chat, or email.

    • Live-chat: You must be logged into Canvas to access live chat. Select the “help icon” from the left-side menu and choose the option “Chat with Canvas support”.

Canvas Guides

Canvas has a rich library of guides, videos, and other resources that will walk you through its different processes and features. Each guide has a detailed table of contents to help you find the content you need quickly. These guides provide detailed instructions and are maintained by Instructure, Canvas’ vendor, meaning they are always the most up-to-date resources.

Canvas Templates

The Center for Teaching & Learning has created a template for Canvas courses! This template is optional to use, and can be customized after you download it. It includes banners on the Welcome page and Weekly Introduction & Overview pages, customized headers throughout, and a syllabus template. Each page also comes with light instructions, and there is a link to a doc with more in-depth instructions included in the Welcome module.

Western Oregon University’s Land Acknowledgement
Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR is located within the traditional homelands of the Luckiamute Band of Kalapuya. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 (Kalapuya etc. Treaty), Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are a part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
