Wellness & Meditation Spaces
Western Oregon University has five dedicated Wellness and Meditation spaces open to all students, staff, faculty, and visitors of WOU during open hours. These spaces are designed to practice stress reduction and care in the course of a busy day. Examples of uses include basic calming through mindfulness, relaxation exercises, prayer, meditation, engagement in lactation and other wellness activities.

Calendar of Religious Holy Days and Observances
At WOU we welcome diverse identities and practices, this includes religious, spiritual, and related practices. We have created a multi-faith calendar that includes religious holy days and observances for the 2024-2025 academic year. Calendar entries include Baháʼí, Buddhist, Christian/Catholic, Eastern Orthodox/Christian, Hindu, Islam, Jain, Jewish, Persian and Sikh faiths. If you would like to request an addition or correction to the calendar please email dei@wou.edu.
Definitions for keywords used on the calendar:
Special worship: Observances that are not work-restricted by definition but they may involve a special worship or observance.
Meaningful: Days that are not work-restricted by definition but may be particularly significant to individuals or groups.
Work-restricted Religious Holy Days: A recognized denominational sacred or Holy Day that is observed by persons or groups who are required – through a set or system of religious beliefs, laws/doctrines, tenets, canons or theology – to restrict or limit work and/or physical or mental activity directed toward the production or accomplishment of something; toil; labor. This definition may include academic endeavors (e.g. examinations, classroom activities and research, or out-of-classroom learning experiences).
