FAQ
I’m scared to talk to someone because they might tell someone else…
We understand that reaching out for help can be scary. We have confidential advocates on campus and SANE nurses that ARE NOT mandatory reporters for cases such as abuse or assault.

- The SANE nurses and confidential advocates will only help in the areas YOU feel comfortable receiving help. This means that no police reports, legal action, or medical examinations will be forced upon the victim, but the help will be readily available.
- I feel so ashamed.I don’t know what to do…
- Victims often feel ashamed because they blame themselves for what happened. It is important to understand that it is NOT your fault. You did not ask for this. Asking for help may be difficult when someone is going through a range of negative emotions, but it is better to get help sooner than later so the evidence can be collected in the case that the victim wants to report the case. (Victims have 7 years to report a sexual assault case. They will NOT be forced to file a report if help is sought.
