Holistic Health & Wellness

Although most people associate well-being with physical and mental health, there are actually 7 dimensions of wellness that we focus on here at Western. Wellness is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential. We view well-being as a multidimensional and holistic process. The seven wellness realms we focus on, include: social, emotional, physical, spiritual, financial, environmental, and mental.

Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.

-National Wellness Institute

Western Oregon University’s Student Health and Counseling Center is based on a holistic health approach. Holistic health is encompassed by our seven wellness realms. The seven wellness realms include: physical, social, spiritual, financial, environmental, mental, and emotional wellness.
