Director, Center for Professional Pathways

My undergraduate degree is in Hospitality Management, my graduate degrees are in Counseling. I was born and raised in Reykavik, Iceland. When I was in college, I thought I would open a coffee shop with an art gallery. I love to paint, both abstract paintings and functional pieces. When I’m not in the CPP, I love to be outside in nature, kayaking and walking my dog, and I like cooking, reading and making things.

I got my degree in Elementary Education and Interdisciplinary Studies (too many classes for just one degree). I grew up in Milwaukie, OR, but I live in Dallas now. When I was in college, I wanted to teach 4th grade, but have truly found that just teaching and educating inspires me; it doesn’t have to be grade specific. For fun, I like to build decks, but I’m afraid to use a saw to cut wood. I have gotten more comfortable with a circular saw this past year though. I can be found doing many things outside of the CPP depending on the season. In the spring, I’m likely at a softball field somewhere with my daughter, summer I’m hopefully in the pool or at the dunes riding, fall is more softball and yard cleanup as it starts to grow one last time for winter, and wintertime I am probably sulking in my chair inside waiting for warmer weather to get outside.

Erin Lieuallen

Assistant Director, Experiential Learning, Center for Professional Pathways

My favorite part of my work is watching students’ growth from their early years in college to seeing their successes and resulting confidence that takes them into their next phase of life after Commencement.

I’m originally from Omaha, Nebraska; my first degree was in European Studies and Spanish from University of Nebraska at Lincoln. I moved to Oregon in 2005 to study volcanoes and I eventually attended OSU, where I earned an MS in Geology. I went on to teach and serve as an academic advisor, later adding the role of Experiential Learning Coordinator. I am really excited to get to know WOU students. I love traveling, hiking, reading, and serving as life’s adventure “cruise director” with my family and menagerie of 3 goats, 6 chickens, 2 dogs and 2.5 cats.

I am currently a fourth year student here at Western Oregon and plan on graduating this year with a bachelor’s of Psychology and a certificate of Gerontology. After graduating I plan to take a year to travel before going back to school to earn my master’s of mental health counseling. Some fun facts about me include that I have been vegan for almost 13 years and when I am not working in the CPP you can probably find me cooking or spending some quality time outdoors!

I’m a third year Pre-education major with a concentration in early childhood elementary education. Writing poetry is one of my favorite passions, and I even have an Instagram page dedicated to my work. One place you may find me on campus is 2nd floor RWEC (my other home).

I’m a Music Education major from Salem, Oregon, and this is my second year at WOU. My career goal is to teach high school choir. In my free time, there’s a good chance I’m singing in the choir, or in my dorm with iced coffee and a good book.

I am a senior at Western Oregon with a major in Visual Communication Design. I am planning to graduate this school year and hopefully score a museum internship. One fun fact about me is I love to go thrifting with friends. In my free time I am either spending time with friends or cooped up in my room.

I’m from Turner, Oregon. I am a junior majoring in Economics. After earning my degree, I plan on getting my CPA license to become an accountant. A fun fact about me is that I love to bake and enjoy trying out new recipes! Another one of my favorite pastimes is camping. I would go every weekend if I could.

Isaiah Valdovinos Espinoza

Marketing Intern

I am a Business major and Computer Science minor. My career goal is to become an executive officer of a sportswear company.  A fun fact about me is I like to spend my time outdoors.
